Holy shack! Check out this run down fishing shack turned glamorous getaway for PR guru Melanie Brandman. It’s nestled on a lake in the Catskills about 110 miles from New York City. The second she saw the lake view she knew she had to have the property and promptly paid the $275,000 asking price because it reminded her native Australia. The dark paneling and walls had to go and she created a wide open space with dark floors and white walls to showcase the furniture and art. The renovation and furnishings in total cost $100,000. Saving money by buying things like cabinets from Ikea, appliances from a green renovating source and furniture from antique shops and Ebay. You just would never know. It looks like a million bucks!
