my office

September 21, 2011

I’ve totally forgotten to share my office as it has finally settled in the sunroom. I just love it!! Painted a pretty charcoal grey. Just had this great carpet installed and popped little bits of orange in the room.  I need to get some drapes especially now that it is starting to cool off to keep it warm and cozy. Was thinking a little MLB chevron print but I assure you it would cost and arm and a leg considering all the yardage I would need. So thinking pillows instead. to be continued….

tuesday’s find

Spoonflower love this fabric website a client turned me onto!  “Spoonflower makes it possible for individuals to design, print and sell their own fabric designs”.  They use large-format inkjet printers—and eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks—to print designs on natural fiber textiles. Fabrics include weight cottons, cotton sateen, twill, knit, voile, and canvas, as well as silk crepe de chine. Prices range from $18/yard to $38/yard, but users get a 10 percent discount off their own designs. And you can order any swatch for just $5. Another one for the genius category.

Yes you can out in the laundry room, the kids rooms, the bathroom even a mudroom. But the Master Bedroom?  Yes! it works there too. Loving this chalkboard wall in the Master bedroom. But you better put some darn good art on it or it could look funny. I like the idea of changing it seasonally.

We thought about what goes into a the perfect weekend and here are some of our favorite ideas:

Colorful Bedroom

A happy weekend begins with sleeping in. This pretty bedroom is a gorgeous mix of color and pattern. The sunny gingko pattern wallpaper would be lovely to wake up to.

Brunch Table Setting

While the weather is still warm, having breakfast outdoors is a lovely way to start a weekend day. Have a brunch and make it feel special with real china and cloth napkins.

Wooden Cutting Board

A rustic style breakfast is just as charming as a more fancy brunch. Think outside the box for serving ideas… love the wood cutting board instead of a plate.

Bathroom Lighting

A happy bathroom makes getting up in the morning easier. This crisp blue and white bathroom is from Sarah Jessica Parker’s weekend house. So charming, from its simple wall sconcesdown to the unexpected pails as wastebaskets.

Happy Weekend

A happy weekend typically involves scouting the local flea markets, estate sales, church rummage sales and yard sales for vintage finds. Art, furniture, and even the odd find, like taxidermy, are great additions for the home.

Book filled shelves, comfortable sofas for reading or watching movies… a cozy library or den is a must for a lazy, rainy weekend. We definitely adore the single pendant lighthanging right above the table.

Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor dining in the evening bathed in candlelight and surrounded by the laughter of good friends makes for a happy weekend. Set up a long table outdoors and line it with mismatched chairs. Lanterns or hanging string lights would be lovely light in addition to the candles.

Bathroom Design

The end to a happy weekend? A long, long soak in a hot tub. A chandelier is a perfect light fixture for the bathroom because it adds sparkle and transforms the functional into the sublime.
