Alexa Hampton

September 19, 2012

I was lucky enough to attend an event yesterday with Alexa Hampton talking about her new book the Language of Interior Design.

This woman was so endearing and down to earth it was refreshing. (Trust me there is a whole lot of snobbery in the business) The way she talked about her projects, family and her rearranging ways was so funny and informative. She outlined the four major elements of design-contrast, proportion, color, and balance and how they related through her projects. In addition to her book she was there to showcase her collection of furnishings she designed for Hickory Chair . Beautiful leggy, curvy tables, chairs and upholstery pieces that are an updated take on traditional.

This is my favorite home that is featured in her book. An all white escape in the Hamptons. Who wouldn’t love it!

And two stand out pieces from Hickory Chair collection.

Making it Eclectic

September 14, 2012

99 percent of my projects right now I’d file under eclectic and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s running that fine line between mish mash and perfect. It’s mixing antiques and a little patina with sleek modern lines and a glossy coat of paint. It’s in my opinion the best from of design because a too much of one thing is never a good thing.

Double up

Love two fabrics? Can’t decide. You don’t have to, just use both!

Miss me?

September 10, 2012

Sorry I have been totally MIA for the past few weeks month. I’ve been paying attention to my little ladies. They are officially back at school and it is great although I still have another week until everyone will be in school for a full week. Crazy!

I’m hoping to ease back into the blog thing so expect to hear from me on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays as my plate is once again full of clients. No complaining here! I’m amazed how my phone rang off the hook last week. Guess everyone is back at it too.

I’m so in the mood for Fall right now but the 90 degree days continue to linger here in Denver. I know I’m not the first to all it but how about all the Burgundy, Emerald Green and Yellow Ocher. Loving it!
