Perfect: entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings.

This room(s) are totally perfect in my book. The color scheme, the pillows, the backsplash in the kitchen. The little benches under the table behind the chair, the layered rugs and pretty french doors. This room is totally attainable too. I bet you could find every piece in this room online or from a big box store. I know you would not break the bank recreating this room.

 It’s perfect!

Lakeside Exotic

Love this Michigan Lake house featured in House Beautiful. Designer Martin Horner left the predictable nautical design behind. Instead he treated the house with exotic patterns and beautiful textures and rich blue hues. The details are exquisite!

Going Dark

Thinking of going dark in my living room….

I may or may not be spending my weekend doing something like this

Ginger Jars

October 19, 2012

I’m trying to amass a collection of ginger jars, I have quite a few right now but not all are the blue and white variety as they are much harder to come by and they are quite pricey at times. The history of blue and white porcelain can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty.  One might think that a ginger jar is used to hold ginger, true, but, throughout history, ginger jars have been used the way people in modern society use canisters. They were used to hold spices, salt and oils. Some ginger jars were designated as gifts for the emperor, and some were used as urns.

Oh and I think this is my ticket to the cobalt factor in my house. I recently stumbled on the Pink Pagoda site that has some great options.

Crazy for Cobalt

October 10, 2012

Happy hump day! I spent some time at the Design Center and couldn’t resist picking up a color lots of fabrics that were saturated with the most beautiful cobalt blue. It’s not navy it’s not royal its a little in between. This might be a my new color and I’ll have to find a way to thread it into my house. Love!
