Let’s Dance

January 30, 2013

Oh yes the disco ball is a new trend I’m seeing out there. Fun right? What a great way to make beautiful light “dance” all over the room. Honestly why not jump on the band wagon when you can buy one for $15? It could be worth a try and something sure to be a younger crowd pleaser.

2011 Home Trends

January 3, 2011

Hope you all had a wonderful time ushering out 2010 and welcoming in 2011! Here are the Top 4 trends to keep in mind if you are going to do any decorating this year.

1. We will say goodbye to the shabby chic and say hello to a more tailored, sleek look. Ruffles, billowing curtains and mix of florals will make way for a clean lines, tailored skirts and simple graphic patterns.  Exciting.

2. Wallpaper is back! No more faux finishing thank god. I love this trend and it isn’t your grandma’s wallpaper so don’t  squirm at the thought it’s going to be fun!

3. Reinventing and reusing old furniture. I’m a HUGE fan of this trend. In the design world I deal with a lot of older homes that scale of a refurbished sofa or chair is almost always perfect. Most of the things sold in stores look great in a big open showroom but bring it home and it fills up the whole room.  Not to mention the lines of an old chair…they don’t make them like the used to.

4. Green Sustainable Design is on the rise and is expected to be more popular than ever this year. Insulate your home with recycled jeans, install energy-efficient appliances or  hang organic cotton drapes in your living room. The possibilities are endless.
